How to play
Mixer tab: The first tab is the "Mixer" tab. It is divided into two sections.
Pitch control: The top one is common to all instruments (tanpuras, tabla, sur-peti and swar mandal) and is used to set the "basic" pitch of Sa.
These two buttons can be used to adjust the pitch up or down one at a time
The slider allows fine tuning of the pitch within a range of two notes
Click on the end of the slider (♭ or ♯ 1/100) to further fine-tune the pitch notation
Press and hold the end of the pitch slider for faster pitch adjustment
Double-clicking the slider brings up a fine-tuned value picker wheel
The center display shows the current note name (i.e. C#) in the middle, the octave in the upper right, and the current trim relative value in the upper left. The color of the text in the display indicates whether the trim slider is completely in the middle (green), to the left of center (yellow) or to the right of center (cyan).
The i (information) button in the upper right corner takes you to the information and help pages
Mixer: The bottom contains the mixer for turning all instruments on or off and setting their relative volume and sound image.
Use the "Volume/Pan" segment control to switch the slider below it from the volume control to the pan control
Use the switches on the left to turn instruments on and off
Use the sliders on the right to adjust the volume or sound image of each instrument
You can double-click any slider to bring up the volume or pan selection dials
Master Volume: Slide down the console controls to display the Master On/Off and Volume controls. If Apple TV or other AirPlay-enabled devices are in range, the Audio Path control will also be displayed.
Recording: If a recording plug-in has been purchased, this section also displays a third recording segment to control the microphone and recording settings.
Controls tab: The "Controls" tab is used to control the two tanpuras and tabla. it is divided into two sections.
Tabla control: The top part is used to select the target, style and speed.
Use the Taal left and right buttons to select a taal. or click on the taal name to bring up the taal selection selector.
Each taal has one or more Styles. use the left and right style buttons to select a style (if available). Or click on the style name to bring up the style selector.
To use a metronome, pick a random special metronome for the taal at the top of the taals list, and select the time signature from the style selector
The Tabla Play/Stop button on the right turns Tabla on or off
The Master Play / Stop button on the left turns all instruments on or off
The tempo display in the middle shows the current Matra in the middle, the tempo range at the bottom, the bpm tempo in the upper right corner, and the division in the upper left corner. The display also shows a dot on the back of each quarter hand on the right hand side when the speed is below 40 bpm.
The slider and the buttons around it allow you to control speed in several ways.
Moving the slider to adjust the speed directly
Click the speed slider endpoints (- or +) to adjust the speed at 1 bpm
Press and hold the speed slider endpoint to increase the speed adjustment
The cadence of the X/2 button half described, and the 2× button doubles it
Hold down the t empo display or double-click the speed slider to get the speed selector wheel
To use the "beat tempo" feature, simply start the beat on the beat tempo display and watch as the beat matches your beat!
Manjira: When the taal supports Manjira (e.g. Bhajani, Dadra or Rupak), a Manjira button will be displayed below the tabla play/stop button. Click the M button to enable/disable manjira (the button turns green when enabled).
tanpura controls: the bottom is used to adjust two tanpuras. each tanpura has the same controls as the following.
Use the switch to change the pitch of the first string or to turn off the tanpura
Click on "Close" to close the tanpura
Click Pa, Ma or Ni to tune the first string to that note
Clicking on ... This will take you to the Custom Tuning screen where you can select other standard notes (e.g. Dha) or use the sliders to fine tune custom notes
Scroll the tanpura to the right (swipe left) to display a similar control for the second string of the tanpura
