Users can also create their own subreddits on topics of their choice, and interested users can subscribe to these subreddits to have their content added to their site's homepage. For example, as of May 2015 the Wikipedia subreddit entitled "the most interesting pages on Wikipedia" had over 150,000 subscribers. Users can earn post karma and comment karma for popular comments and links, which accumulate on the user page. Reddit also has a point system called "creddits", where each "creddit" can give other users One month's worth of gold. These points are not prizes, but rather serve as a badge of honor among other users, but some users have tried to trade in their "creddit".

Reddit also allows unlinked posts. They are called "self posts" or "text submissions". AskReddit"-a subreddit where users are only allowed to ask more open-ended questions and are only allowed to submit text posts.
