In this strategy card game, skill determines your success, not luck. Mix and match iconic heroes, allies, and Rune Land areas to unlock unique card synergies and defeat your opponents.
As with other collectible card games, players play one-on-one to reduce their opponents to zero life points. Cards come in a variety of types and belong to one of nine regions - decks of cards with similar gameplay characteristics. An important feature is the game's combat rhythm; unlike other collectible card games, each player alternates between attacking and defending each turn.
Master every moment of dynamic, alternating gameplay means you can react and counter at any time, but so can your opponent. Choose from dozens of champion cards to add to your set, each with different mechanics inspired by their original League of Legends abilities.
Champions enter battle as powerful cards, and if you play smart, they'll upgrade to become even more epic. Upgrade your champions multiple times during the game, and the more you play, the more you earn the Champion Mastery badge.
Always a new way to play
Each champion and ally in the game comes from a region in the Rune Lands, including Demacia, Noxus, Fredrode, Piltwulf and Zu'an, Aeonia, Gargoyle, Forbidden Rima, and the Shadow Isles.
Discover how the different champions and regions work together to give you a unique advantage against your opponents. Combine, adapt and experiment with frequent new releases in an ever-evolving metadata.
Play to win, not pay to win Earn cards for free or use pieces and wildcards to buy what you want - you control your own collection, and you never pay for random card packs. While there is always the option to buy specific cards, you can easily complete your collection without spending a dime.
Win or lose, each battle brings experience and progress. Choose the areas you want to explore first and unlock the allies, spells, and champions that summon you.
Once a week, you'll also unlock treasure chests from the Vault. The more you play, the more these chests will be upgraded, increasing the rarity of the cards inside, from common all the way up to champion cards. Treasure chests can also contain wildcards, which can be converted to any card you want.

How to play
Legends of Runeterra It is a one-on-one digital collectible card game. It starts with both players having 20 life points on their Nexus; the first person to drop to zero loses. Players start each game with a hand of four cards, and they may trade off another random card from their deck. Each round, both players draw one card each. Cards are played by expending mana; players start with zero mana and gain an additional mana crystal each round, up to a maximum of 10. Up to three unspent mana are automatically stored as spell mana at the end of the round; this can be used to cast spells in subsequent rounds, but unit cards cannot be summoned.
One of the game's distinguishing features is the pace of its battles. Each turn, "attack markers," a symbol indicating which player can attack and who will defend, alternate from one player to another. This is visually reflected on each player's half of the board, with the sword icon representing either an attack or a defensive shield. Some cards allow players to attack when no attack marker is present
The battlefield is ever-changing, and every hand has the opportunity to turn the tide and win by surprise. Be decisive and adapt to your opponent's strategy step by step. Will you be able to outsmart your opponent and win with the best of them?
Risky choices determine everything. Each hand will be the difference between victory and defeat.
New content will be introduced frequently in each area, and the battle environment is constantly evolving for you to combine, adjust and experiment with different strategies.
Cards are available for free during the game, or you can purchase specific cards directly from the store. It's your deck, it's your call.
